Though I am one, I'm not *that kind* of a librarian, in the sense that I don't currently work in a library. Instead I make words sit up and do tricks. Sometimes it works.

Hi, Milkyway and everyone. I've been an academic librarian for 9 years: 6 at the University and 3 at Community College. I love it. Never knew how much teaching would be involved! I like riding along with people's research, helping to find the pieces they can then thread together for an entire body of research to write their paper or figure something out. I also love taking a group of students through the class I teach and witnessing their learning process. One time, a student of mine handed in such an incredible final project, it made me weep (in front of him, no less). His documentation and research process was a work of beauty. He had truly grasped the concept of subject headings, multi-database searching, finding existence of records in WorldCat... he packed his paper with every piece of research that organically fit in there and if I could have given him more than an A+, I would have!

I digress. Happy to be here. Milkyway, in addition to the other hot professions you list, might I add nun?
